Title: Jackson/Evans
Post by: SueV on Friday 03 September 10 12:10 BST (UK)
Can someone look at the marriage of Henry Jackson to Frances Evans in Kidderminster 1838 and any children they had.  I believe they had a daughter Fanny born Jun 1840 and am trying to establish if this is correct and what may have happened to her.
Thanks in advance.
Sue

Thanks for all your help.  I guess this rules out this family as my connection.  Our Fanny Jackson (or Henrietta Jackson) remains a mystery.  She travelled to Australia in 1858 but we can't find any trace of her birth.  So I'm trying to check out all possibilities.  Many thanks once again.

Hi Jim
We have Henrietta Frances Jackson born ? Leicester 1839-41 parents Henry (or Herz) & Fanny Jackson (nee Sinclair or Herbert).  Henrietta Frances arrived in Australia on the Stebonheath in 1858.  Her parents at that time were deceased.  The family myth was she was from a well-to-do family but the shipping record shows she was 19yr old housemaid!!  Thanks for your help.

Hi Sue,
I have had a good look and can't see any thing that fits, Were do you get "parents Henry (or Herz) & Fanny Jackson (nee Sinclair or Herbert)." from. I can't even see a birth reg for Henrietta Frances Jackson.

Henrietta's marriage certificate shows her parents as Henry Jackson and Frances Herbert.
Death certificate shows Herz Jackson and Frances Sinclair.
Her eldest daughter's birth certificate and her husband death certificate show her as Frances Henrietta Jackson but all the other certificates show her as just Henrietta and her birth date ranges from 1838 to 1841.  All certificates show she is from Leicester.
We haven't been able to find her birth either and wonder if perhaps her surname wasn't Jackson at all!
She certainly is a mystery.  Sue

Thanks Jim.  We had seen this family once before and couldn't, at that stage, rule them out.  Appreciate your help.  Sue
