Can you look up the following marriage: Margaret Hudson (d/o Alexander) to Thomas Wright (s/o Samuel) 20 Jul 1866 in Milltown. What profession is recorded for Thomas? If he is a soldier then I'm fairly certain this is my great grandparents.
Also is there a record of their children?
The 1901 census places his family in Gillford, Co Down as follows (all born in Co. Armagh):
Thomas b 1836
Margaret (wife) b. 1846
Margaret b. 1886
Martha b. 1882
Thomas b. 1887
John b. 1872
My grandfather was Alexander who was in Belfast in 1901.I've found a christening record (IGI) dated 30 Oct 1865 Tartaraghan for an Alexander Hudson giving a mother's name Margaret Hudson but no father. This could be him.
From the same source I have a John Wright born 11 Aug 1872 Portadown parents Thomas Wright & Margaret Hudson which is a good match to my grandfather's brother.
In the christening records of Tartaraghan there is a Thomas William Wright born 8 Apr 1877 Ballynarry to Thomas & Margaret who is also a good match - however none of the children are on the Tartaraghan records.
My great grandfather Thomas Wright (b. abt 1836 Co. Armagh) was a soldier in the 68th Light Infantry.
If anyone could add an additional information I would be very grateful.

David

Not sure if anyone does have access to these records. PRONI might have microfilmed them but will be closing in preparation for move to new site next year.

Thanks for the reply - I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait until PRONI reopens.

The church records on microfilm should be available at Creggagh Library- see www.proni.gov.uk for details.
