Do you have any idea where in Scotland .... searching SP between 1920 and 1925 throws up 198 individuals named William Young

Just used their new "advanced search" ... surprisingly it worked

William Loney Young was born in 1923 in Newington, Edinburgh City, Midlothian the GROS reference number is 685/06 0222 .... the bad news is that there is no image available to view online and you would need to order the certificate using the Gros number.

Hi Lorraine,

A Scottish certificate will usually give you the date, time and place of birth, as well as the names of both parents, mother's usual address and the occupation of father.  As well as the name of the informant.

Best wishes

Rockford

HI Lorraine. I am a member of the Battenbough family. I was born in Ystalyfera in 1974. A family member traced us back to 1700 when the surname was Batembeau. Let me know if you are still researching this particular name and if I can help in any way.Lee

Hello Lorraine, and thank you for your reply. It seems that I am unable to receive private messages- I see a message from the moderator- but am I going mad or did i read a message from you asking me which branch of the Battenbough family I am from? It seems to have disappeared-Oh dear, I am slightly confused !lol    I am new to this so please bear with me !

My  grandfather is Henry George Battenbough. I however, for reasons I will not go into right now have the surname of my fathers mothers' maiden name.

I would be very grateful to hear of the research you have carried out. An aunt of mine went back to Jaques BETAMBEAU born 1715.

Best wishes, Lee
