Is there anyone who would be able to look for a grave at Kensal Green, please?
I have been informed by the cemetery that the grave I want (Richard Pittman, died 1871) is grave 22948, square 54 RS. I am hoping that there is a legible inscription which gives not just his age (which I have from the burial register), but his date of birth. His age and birthplace from censuses make me think he is one of my family, but a birthdate would really help (his birthdate is included in the baptism register, so I'm hoping I can get a match).
If anyone can help I'll be very grateful.

Hi Scuda
Rootschatters in live in the London & Middlesex area and who can do this type of look-up are few and far between.
Have you contacted the 'Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery' to see if they can help more quickly?

I think there is a modest charge towards their funds for the help they give.

Hi Dawn,
Thanks for the suggestion. I've been trying for days to get on the 'Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery' website, as they seemed the obvious people to ask, but I always get an 'IE cannot display the webpage message'. On firefox it says 'Server not found', so I'm stuck at the moment, unless someone knows another way of getting hold of them.

Just checked it on IE as well and that works too.

Well, that's most peculiar - I still can't access it on the main computer, but it's fine on the laptop (and the security settings are supposed to be identical). Anyway, now I can investigate via the Friends, rather than bothering anyone here. Thanks Dawn, it didn't occur to me the problem was at my end rather than the website.

Hello, from The Friends of Kensal Green Cemetery www.kensalgreen.co.uk - did you find what you were looking for? WE can only provide information regarding All Souls cemetery, Kensal Green. St Mary's Roman Catholic cemetery Kensal Green, has seperate records from ours.

Hello, and thanks for asking. I managed to find someone to take the photo of the grave I was interested in, so that problem is solved. I have even (recently) managed to access The Friends of Kensal Green website - I'm not sure whether you've changed something or whether something has changed on my computer, but we seem to be compatible at last! If I manage to get to London one day I must try to join one of your tours.
