Title: MUNRO Family From Isle of Skye 1852-3 to Victoria

I have a family from Strath in the Isle of Skye who emigrated to Victoria under the highlands and islands emigration scheme in 1853- just wondering what became of them??

Does anyone have access to Victorian BMD's to be able to tell me if the couple had any more children in australia, when they died and what happened to their children please?

Couple was Donald aged 36 and Catherine aged 30 in 1852-3, and their children- Donald McGillivray Munro aged 10, Allan Munro aged 8, Mary Munro aged 3, Donald Munro aged 1 and Alexander Munro aged 1.

Post by: judb on Thursday 02 September 10 02:43 BST (UK): Donald's will is also digitised. Died 16 July 1865, farmer of Mortlake. Will dated 3 April 1865, leaves all to his wife Catherine for her lifetime and then to be divided among his children - unfortunately not named.

Donald is buried at Mortlake.

More children, Donald Snr's death and his son- and even a couple of wills.

I googled donald munro+catherine mcgillivray
and

shows a death for
Catherine Munro (nee McGillivray) buried at Tenterfield NSW 29/8/1917
http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au
has a death
Catherine MUNRO 10403/1917
Father: Donald Mother: Mary Reg @ Tenterfield

Perhaps this is your Catherine if her maiden name was McGillivray?

It might be worth checking out clanmunroaustralia.org too, if you haven't already ;D

Post by: XXXX on Thursday 02 September 10 12:26 BST (UK): The Catherine Munro, that died in Ballarat age 60 was buried at the Ballarat New Cemetery on 17 June 1882. She was a resident at the Ballarat Benevolent Home before her passing and she is buried in "Open Ground".

My Catherine's maiden name was mcGillivray, so she must be the one buried in Tenterfield.

Not much on his siblings though....is there any sign of marriages and children for these siblings to Donald Jnr please?
