I am searching for information about the McElhone family in South Derry. My family lived in a place called Derrygarve in the townland of Newbridge, Magherafelt, Co Derry.
Granmother Cecelia Kinghan [nee McElhone] (well known for her singing)
married Sam Kinghan
sisters Dinah, Mary, Margaret, Susanne
brothers Patrick and Jim (died at age of 10)
I know my great grandfather was Charlie McElhone married to Mary Anne Murray.
Any relations or information associated with this family I would love to hear from you.

I am researching the McAllister family from the Magherafelt area. I have a John McAllister who was born in 1842 the son of James McAllister and Margaret McElhone.
Don't have much more info but other family names were McGuigan, Henry, McGill and Kelly.
Any info would be appreciated

Funnily enough there are still lots of McALlisters in the area. My mother in law is McAlister from Desertmartin.
Still working on the 1800s puzzle myself. Will keep in touch.

Thanks so much for the feedback. I received further info today with the marriage of John McAllister and Margaret Jane McGill married 27th December 1857 at Moneymore parish Ardtrea dioscese Armagh. Their witnesses were Philip Keenan and Alice Quinn.
This is the John McAllister who was the son of Margaret McElhone this would mean that Margaret McElhone might have been born in the early 1800's.
Best Wishes
Patricia
