Title: 1841 Census Glasgow *completed*
Post by: jillwelsh on Saturday 28 August 10 09:37 BST (UK)
Any help with reading the street names on this extract would be much appreciated.
Moore Street? (which existed near the Glasgow Slaughterhouse in 1841). Cannot work out the word below.
Ref number on page is 644/01 070 01 011

Thanks!

Jill

Hi Jill,

Moore Street, Gallomure?

Gallomure is mentioned in a 17th ref. to Town Clerks of Glasgow.....so does this make sense?

Thanks Ann - it's certainly in the right area (east end) - all the other dwellings in the street are just mentioned by number - it's just these 2 entries that have the Galomure (?) entry

Hi Jill

It's Moore Street, Galomure on FreeCen.  The neighbouring households are in Belgrove Place and Barrack Street, which puts it about here....
