A B Chester was born in 1901 in Malham Moor Yorks. Does anyone know where he could have studied dentistry possibly in the 1920/30's?
Does anyone know if there is access on-line to dentist lists of about that time, or would I have to write to the British Dental Association?
Thanks for you help

Abraham Banks Chester studied dentistry at Leeds University.
He practiced first in Loftus then in Mansfield.

Thanks for that info, but you surely aren't leaving it there? Where did you get the info from? I know he worked in Mansfield because my dentist trained with him, but he died a few years ago, so I can't ask any more questions. I have made a big connection with his family up in Malham but they haven't said anything about his training.
Please put me out of my misery!!! :-\

I stumbled upon your request for information about Abraham Banks Chester by chance.
I am the widow of Peter Chester, elder son of ABC. Are you looking for any other information?

Thanks for replying.
I have been doing a bit of digging for Alan Banks Chester, Peter's step brother. He never really knew his Dad as he died when he was very young, and his Mum hasn't told him much either. I have been in touch with Ruth and Peter Kerr, who are in touch with Bronte, and she identified some family photos including Abraham. I printed off some information for Alan but I haven't heard from him since. Perhaps the vision of a family going back hundreds of years was too much! I will wait for him to get back in touch with me, so I can tell him all the other things I know, and then I will get back in touch with you. Thanks for writing - very kind of you

Thanks for your interesting reply. Bronte will be an excellent source of information, she knows much, much more than I do. She is working on a book, "Barden in Wharfedale - The Place And Its People" which I think will include some details about members of the Chester family. She is nearly ready to publish, I think. You may well know this already.
Best wishes
