My family come from the North Curry, Stoke St Gregory area. My Great Great grandfather was James Squire who moved to the Rhondda in the 1850's. His father was William and his mother Charlotte. However we are not convinced her maiden name was Shoemac. we have loads of info on the family and I dont mind doing lookups for people. Any help with this Shoemac query would be really appreciated. Cheers, Trefor.

Hi welcome to Rootschat..seems we are related...My GG Grandfather was also James, My G grandfather John and my grandmother Doris Squire..I have quite a lot on this family althou have not researched them for a long while. I remember viewing your tree on Ancestry...and do not think I can add to your info.
William Squire 1797 -1875 Married Charlotte Shoemac c1811 - 1898 North Curry 2 Dec 1834 (entry 271) I also have 'Shoemac' as the original copy of the cert was quite bad..It looked like 'shoemac' unfortunately I no longer have the copy on this comp. Maybe another can look it up.
These are my notes on Charlotte and possible family ..althou..only possibles, and not very much

Hello Cas....its been a while. I have been off with the Dabinetts....your post sent me off looking at this all again and thankfully putting the 'Shoemac' query to bed. Mary had quite a time by the look of it. Do you have pictures of James Squire and John?
