Hi I am looking for information on Daniel Kenna & Rose Gafney as this is the only information that I have as these two are the parents of Mary Kenna who married Denis Dunbar in Wellingrove in NSW in 1879
On Mary's death certificate she states that place of Birth was at Maitland , but further information find that was not the case
Also any information on Daniel Kenna & Rose Gafney is wanted
I cannot find when they arrived in Australia ?
I am assuming that they were married before arriving ?

At the pilot site http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=home there's a likely christening for a sibling of Mary Kenna... "likely" as it seems to me there's a couple of obvious transcript errors...
Daniel Kenny (y in lieu of a) and Rose Saffney (S in lieu of G) are recorded as the parents of John KENNY christening date of 02 Sep 1866. I cannot find the civil registration for that lad's birth.
Civil registrations of bdm events commenced in 1856 in NSW, however as many of my NSW forebears were well established in NSW from decades earlier, I am confident that many registrations of bdm events, particularly those outside of then boundaries of Sydney metro, simply do not appear at the online index for NSW BDM.... so don't discard the "Maitland" clue for your lass.... ;)

Hi there,
At the NSW State Records online index there's a Rose Gaffney aged 19 arriving Sydney and/or Newcastle on the Rajasthan in 1855 ;D this was an Assisted Immigration, so there should be more information available ;D

Just a bit of extra info to help in your search. From another shipping list for the Rose found by JM arriving in 1855, parents' names are John and Mary.
I wonder if your Daniel and Rose did arrive separately, and didn't actually marry because one of them was already married. I see a marriage in 1855 for a Rosa GAFFNEY to Young RAITANG (bit of a weird name) at Dungog (FamilySearch), but no follow up family. This might be the one mentioned above.
There is also a family arriving in Dec 1841 on the Lalla Rookh - James McGUIRE and his wife Rose. This Rose was also a GAFFNEY, parents James and Bridget from County Cavan. This Rose was born around 1814, and they had two children with them, Catherine (2), and Bridget (3 months), with another two born after arrival. This is too old for your Rose, but I am giving it to you in case you come across mention of this family and you will know to discount them.
The 1859 birth cert details for Mary KINNAR should give her mother's maiden name and at least tell you if you are on the right track or not. Do you have an occupation for Daniel?

There is some information in the Australian Newspapaers on line with reference to a Daniel KEnna who died in 1898 aged 100 at Bathhurst.
This could be your Danie Kenna, but I am only assuming and we all know the value of a certificate.

The Rose Gafney married to Daniel Kenna is not mine but I noticed the paragraph below:-

I have a Rose Gaffney married to a James McGuire in my tree. They had two children Rose b. 1848 in Yass and and James b. 1851 in Goulburn. I wonder if this is the same couple?

Hi Gail,
Australian documentation should confirm whether or not it is the same family. The parents' death certs should list all their children.
James and Rose McGUIRE may have had another two children indexed as MAGUIRE:
