Hello out there. I'm still very much a beginner with Rootschat. I'd like to get some info about my grandmother Margaret Houston born 1870 in Kilmaurs Ayrshire who married William Aird born 1868 also at Kilmaurs. Although I don't know the date of their marriage, I'm guessing it must have been about 1888. I know they had about 9 children, 3 of which I could find had been born in Kilmaurs but the others may have been born in Fife as my mother was born to them in 1905 at Buckhaven,Fife. I think the family later moved to Lochgelly, Fife.I received so much information the last time I made an enquiry here about an ancestor especially from Carole.W who I'd very much like to hear from again.
Thanks, Wilma

Hi

Cannot find births of either Jane or Margaret on familysearch although both should be there.

Robert Spiers Houston b.2/7/1866 Kilmarnock, Ayrshire son of John Houston and Agnes Jamieson.
John Houston married Agnes Jamieson 25/11/1859 Tarbolton, Ayrshire. (She must have been as big as a house - see Alexr.'s birthdate!)

Forgot to mention that Margaret and William married in 1889. You'll need to buy credits and view on SP for get full details.

Hello Annette, Thaks very much for the info. you sent. It's much appreciated. Being new to all this, I'm not quite sure how to go about buying credits for what I take it is Scotland's People. Can you tell me more about this please.
Thanks again,
Wilma.

It costs £6 to buy 30 Credits - purchasing them is the same process as anything else that you buy online. They last quite a while so don't worry if you don't use them all in one go.
It effectively costs you 6 credits to view a certificate - 1 when you do a search (when you know the area of course which in this case we do - i.e. William Aird -you don't have to put both parties names - 1889 Kilmaurs, Ayrshire). I did a search (had an odd credit left) between 1888 and 1891 Ayrshire and one of the few entries to come up was yours showing he married Margaret Houston. To then view the certificate itself will cost 5 more credits.
Margaret's birth entry should be on familysearch but isn't for some reason. I did note a Margaret Spiers Houston birth on SP in 1869 at Kilmaurs which sounds like it should be her as this second name also given to one of her brothers.
For future reference Scottish death certificates contain a wealth of information including parents name of the deceased which should help you if you get stuck at some point.
Good luck.

Thanks again, Anne. I really do appreciate the time and all the information you have given me. My grandmother's middle name was Spiers so as you said, we can assume her date of birth was 1869.
Kindest regards,
Wilma.
