Found the family in 1911 in Hulme. PM sent with details.
I've been looking in 1901 for James born c1877 and Mary J born c1879 but no luck yet.
There's a marriage in 1895 of James Hamer & Mary Jane Vernon which lines up with the 1911 details. Chorlton-on-Medlock Register Office or Registar Attended, so no easy lookups.

Also now trying to work out who and where alonzo hughes comes into the equation married Annie elizabeth Hamer in 1924 cannot find any record of his birth and cannot see him in the 1911 census
believe they may have had a son in 1925 (Basil )
