Hi guys,
I'm looking for a hubert BLOOMER. born in Dudley, England on the 22 Feb 1926. He served with the Royal Navy during World War 2. Apparently he moved to Australia after the war. Where he settled and why is still a mystery to me and i hope you can help me with this.
Many Thanks
Steve

Hi Steve
Found your Hubert Bloomer on the National Library of Australia website www.naa.gov.au
Click on Record Search and login as Guest
His navy service # was P/LX648640 & he applied for permission to remain in Aust. upon discharge from the British Armed Forces.
You can apply to have the record digitised (I think for about $A15). This can take a little while (maybe a couple of weeks, depending on how busy they are) and then you can view the record online...it may give you an Aust address or at least some indication of the state that he applied from and at least you'd have a starting point for further research.
Cheers
Annie

According to the England & Wales, Death Index (vol 20 pg 1565), there was a Ronald Hubert Bloomer (b. 22 Feb 1926) who died Aug 1989 age 63 -- in South East Hampshire, England.
There was also a Hubert Bloomer who married Joan M Tull betw.Jul-Sep 1949 in Gosport, Hampshire (England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005, Vol. 6b, Page Number: 643).
So, if this is your Hubert and, as Annie found, he did apply for permission to remain in Aust in 1946, then looks like it didn't pan out & he ended up staying in England...
Update:
I think this also might be a record of when Hubert returned to England:

The name RONALD does not appear ???

Hi Lin,
Now I have just spotted your update with a lot of new information.
To save confusion, (particularly mine probably ??? ???) I wonder if you would mind putting your good findings on new replies?
It might make for a smoother flow ;D
