Marriage?
Marriages June quarter  1922
Margaret   Patterson     Miller    Newcastle upon Tyne    10b   324

Miller not showing, so incorrectly transcribed, and possibly wrong one.

What firm evidence have you about him - children?

joseph was married to my mothers aunt, margaret patterson so this is possibly the correct marriage as margaret was born in newcastle. they had no children, margaret died in the 1950s in middlesbrough. joseph also had a sister agnes or ada, i know his sister lived in middlesbrough but no idea where. my information is really scetchy, will have to ask my mother if she can still remember his original family name she did tell me but think my memory is worse than hers. not even sure i could spell it either.
will send off for the marriage cert, should of done that some time ago

thanx ainsley

This seems to be the Patterson marriage missing half, explains why you could not find it as is showing James, but too much of a coincidence not to be him?

Marriages June quarter  1922    James S Miller    Newcastle T    10b      384  (Could be 324 not 384)

If he was born in Lithuania, may not have arrived in this country until a lot later date (was wondering what the 1911 census might show).

As far as I'm aware he was born in this country, mam reckons that the family arrived here in England in the late 1800s. She says the family name was blatervich(spelling obviously wrong). I know Joe's sister lived here in middlebrough, but after Joe's death mam lost contact with her, think they had a falling out.
I'v searched 1911 census in the past but found nothing unfortunately >:(

Finally received marriage cert, to find that the man my mum called uncle Joe all her life was married under the name James Samuel Miller. They married on 21st June 1922 in Newcastle, age 26. Nothing about him being from Lithuainia though. His fathers name is Samuel Miller occupation Sea Pilot.
Joe's/James was a Gunner in the Royal Field Artiliry , address Fenham Barracks Newcastle.

I'm really stumpted now because obviously Uncle Joe didn't always tell whole truths so don't know what to believe anymore. Arrrgh
