Richard Arthur Morris was baptised at St Issells in 1855
For St Twynells refer to
http://www.revjones.fsnet.co.uk/stackgrpreg/register.htm
Here you will find Martha James baptized 1851, and probably some of her siblings
I may be able to assist further see ;

As advised elsewhere on this forum P.D. St John parish registers do not start until the mid ~ late 1840’s. Prior to that it is all Pembroke St Mary excluding the wealth of non-conformist chapels in area.
A Thomas Morris mrd Mary Evans at Narberth in 1792
A Thomas Morris was baptized at St Issells in 1816, also a same named child was baptized in the same year at Tenby and Narberth, although the later appears to be the son of John Morris.
Richard Morris mrd Elizabeth Hilling at St Issells 12 Sept 1818.

Following on from Orielbenfro's full reply, an extra bit for you.
Richard Arthur Morris was baptised at St Issells church on 23/9/1855, parents Richard and Ann Morris, Richard was a collier and they lived at Stammers then just to the south west of Saundersfoot village but now mostly part of the village sprawl.

I am also very interested in a family of Morris's in St Issells. The man I am interested also ended up in Australia. I had worked up some information on your line -
Richard Morris bn St Issells circa 1796 and bd 29/4/1851 at St Issells 54yo
He was a collier in both the 1841 and 1851 census. That he married Elizabeth Hilling on 12/9/1818 at St Issells. When Elizabeth Hilling was buried 7/5/1846 he remarried to Susanna Williams Q4/1849 - they appear in the 1851 census together. She was about his age so too old to have children.
That Richard had children named
1. Thomas (1819 - >1871) 1841-1871 collier
2. Richard (1825 - >1891) 1841 collier, 1851 labourer
3. Lewis (1827 - >1881) 1841 collier 1851 miner 1871-1881 labourer
4. George (~1835 - >1851) 1841 collier 1851 blacksmith
I am particularly interested in David Morris of St Issells and his wife Ann Morgans. I suspect they came from Narberth prior to this. Louis.

You do not give any dates so this may not be of much use, a David Morris a widower mrd Anne Morgans on the 4th Dec 1813 at St Issells.
Can it be assumed you have alread consulted the will of Daivd Morris the schoolmaster of St Issells reference nbr SD1848-252.
From my database of all names, places and relationships in all wills proven in the parish of St Issells 1600 to 1858, I note the surname Morris (various forenames) mentioned in some context in the following Testators wills ;
David Hay of St Issells SD1798-024
Thomas Thomas SD1804-054
William Morris Farmer of St Issells SD1807-54
Isaac Lewis Gentleman of Pentlepoir St Issells SD1808-034
Cornelius Walters a Collier of Wind Trwy’r Top St Issells SD1812-047
James Callen a Collier of St Issells Common SD1817-004
Evan Lewis a Farmer of Cates’s Hook St Issells SD1826-030
John Davies a Carpenter of St Issell’s SD1842-126
All the above will are available for free on the NLoW website.

Thanks for the information on the will but I doubt that this is the David Morris I am interested in - the David Morris I am interested in was a collier. I was not aware of a David Morris, schoolmaster, and have not consulted the wills. One register said David Morris who married Anne Morgans was a bachelor and the other register said he was a widower. I am inclined to think that he was a widower but do not know this for sure.
The David Morris (~1779-1834) I am interested in had the children named David, Isaac, Elizabeth, Ann and James.
I think it is possible that David Morris (~1779-1834) was the son of David Morris of Narberth. Perhaps they moved to St Issells after one of the pits opened in the 1780s. Louis.

There was never two registers for one year so one document at least you have consulted is not a register.
I can confirm beyond any doubt that the parish registers of St Issells show that David Morris was a widower in 1813 at his mrge to Anne Morgans so there is no "inclined" about it.

I have personally seen the microfilms of the registers. And in one marriage register it says one thing. Then in the new register where the entries are numbered the entry is repeated. I have never seen this before where an entry in the old register is repeated in the new. I have photocopies of both entries. One has to be right and one wrong. Lorraine

Hello Lynne,
I'm Kellie from Melbourne and I am also descended from the Morris's you have researched (Richard Morris & Elizabeth Hilling), and their son Richard morris who married Ann Allen, and their son Lewis Morrris who married Elizabeth James. I have some Rees in there too.
I have Richard Morris (1797 - 1851 Collier from St Issells) father, named Thomas Morris born 1770.
I mat have more than this as my grandmother (a Morris) did extensive research, but off the top of my head, this is what I know.
I would be interested in sharing any research we have done.
Would love to hear from you!
Kellie

I am interested in James Morris who was baptised in St Issells in 1824 and a son of David Morris and his second wife Ann Morgans who were married in 1813 at St Issells. I believe David was a son of David Morris of Narberth. David was a collier. James Morris arrived in Victoria in the mid 1850s after leaving Wales in the mid 1840s. He had many children most of whom were never registered in the Vic BDMs. His wife was buried in 1921 in Maryborough, Vic. They lived mostly north of Amherst (nr Talbot). It would be good if we could exchange information. Can you send me your email address.
