Title: Walton Family in Everton/Liverpool abt 1790
Post by: historyn on Wednesday 18 August 10 02:11 BST (UK)
I'm trying to locate the parents/family of three sisters - Harriet, Sarah, and Eliza Walton - who would have been born between 1785 and 1792.  The family was Catholic and may have originally come from Ireland; the girls listed Everton as their place of residence when they enrolled in school at the Bar Convent in York 1796-1797, but I have been unable to identify their parents, spouses or other family members. They don't appear in the Lancashire Parish Records online, and there are no Waltons listed in Gore's 1766 directory, so I'm inclined to think they moved to the Liverpool area after 1791 Catholic Relief Act.  I'm hoping someone out there has ties to 18th century Waltons and can point me in the right direction.

Any leads will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Kathy

There are roughly 20 Walton households listed in Gores 1821 Liverpool directory.

Just a thought ..is it definitely the Everton in Lancashire, not the Everton in Yorkshire?

There's also an Everton in Nottinghamshire where George Walton was schoolmaster in 1841.

Duh!  I hadn't thought about Everton in Yorkshire!!  I'm so used to dealing with the Liverpool area that I automatically focused my search there.  Thanks again, Shaun, I'll check it out.

Cheers,
Kathy
