Dear all,
Would much appreciate any help in finding the family of Richard Woodcock in the 1861 census.
The family were living in Birmingham in 1851, but must have moved up to Cheshire in the late 1850s - son Richard Henry was born 16 April 1859 at 34 Grosvenor Street, Tranmere, Birkenhead, Cheshire, but I cannot find them in 1861 census.
The family were living at 3 Grosvenor St in both 1871 and 1881 census, so possibly the birth certificate should read '3 Grosvenor Street'? Or perhaps the street numbers were changed?
Family probably includes:
Richard Woodcock born about 1840 Birmingham, a tailor (Head of Household)
Rhoda Woodcock (wife) born about 1823 Shropshire
Edwin Samuel Woodcock born 1848 Birmingham
Sarah Woodcock born 1850 Birmingham
Adelaide Woodcock born 1854 Birmingham
Richard Henry Woodcock (son) born 1859 Tranmere, Cheshire
Very grateful for any help or suggestions,
Best wishes,
Lesley (Telford)

Hi Lesley,
Sorry cannot find them however 'Grosvenor Street' does not appear in 1861 when I do an address search - I have checked on a number of names that lived in the road in 1871 and some of those are not appearing either. It looks like they do not exist.

Thanks Junev.
I have tried to find 34 Grosvenor St in 1861 census without success in the past, but wondered if it was my lack of expertise.
But birth cert definitely for son Richard Henry Woodcock in 1859 definitely shows address as 3 Grosvenor St . So Grosvenor St must have existed then.
I wondered if this was a new street, and only the early numbers existed in 1861, but if you can't find Grosvenor St at all, is it possible that it was missed off the census?
Best wishes,
Lesley

Hi Lesley,
Sorry should have said I could find it when I did an address search in 1851, so I think it has been missed or lost.
