I have found the following newspaper article in Papers Past.
http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/cgi-bin/paperspast?a=d&cl=search&d=THS19020813.2.37&srpos=1&e=--1902---1902--100-THS-1----2william+davies--
Does anyone have access to information, or could someone recommend resources for me to look at that could tell me more about this person and/or the residents of Cabbage Bay Road. I suspect he may be my William Davies, husband of Harriett nee Glover, who through family stories, died in a fall. His occupation was a miner.
Thanks
Nicole.

On the 1881, 1893, 1896 Electoral roll the only Harriet Davies are at Parnell and Manukau (Upper North Island)
Were they definitely at Coromandel?

Thank you all for your information and help. I think this story definately relates to my William Davies as my William DAVIES, is buried at Buffalo, (thanks John B), in the grave next to his grandson William Pollock Glover TELFORD, who died from Cholera at 3 months old.
William was born England, mined in Madeley Staffordshire, before following mining work firstly to Gympie Australia and then onto the Coromandel. We are not sure how he got to NZ from Australia, but we think he came with his son in law William Frederick TELFORD. Based on this birth dates of TELFORDS children he came out between 1894 and 1901. Rumour has it, they left their wives and children in Australia with the intention of sending for them, when the request to follow didn't arrive both women somehow managed to secure passage with their children and just turned up. - Very very strong women back then.
Thanks for the Electoral roll information Althea, Harriett Davies is buried at Waikumete, and I had assumed she came to Auckland after her husbands death, but maybe she went earlier, leaving him in Coromandel.
