Title: Gore and Balshaw's in Liverpool
Post by: CGore on Tuesday 25 May 04 11:44 BST (UK)
Hi All

I am intersested to hear from who may be connected to the Gore or Balshaw families in Liverpool. My lot come from around Bootle and Litherland. Going back into the 18th Century they are farming folk from the Ormskirk area.

Many thank for your interest.

Cath.

Hello,
I've just joined the forum and am also interested in Balshaws and Gores (or Goores) from the Ormskirk area (and their descendants, many of whom went to Liverpool).  I see that your post is rather old but am hoping you retain an interest in these families.

I have seen the microfilmed copies of the wills of William Balshaw (d. 1797) and of his son, also William (d. 1833), both of Altcar, which contain information you might be interested in and which I'd be glad to share.  The younger William was, I believe, married to Anne Goore.

William and Anne had a son named Goore Balshaw.  I am trying to find out more about him, specifically about the crime of manslaughter, of which he was convicted in 1809.  Do you know anything about this?

I'd love to hear from you and would be happy to share what information I have.

You have posted in the beginners, section as well as here, so I wont put any further information on that post, starting with the marriage in 1869 of Joseph Balshaw and the earliest records for the Balshaw and Gore burials in the 1500s,
Where would you like to start,or where have you got back to with your line before you became stuck,

Hello, Radcliff,

I've traced my line of Balshaws back to William, b. abt. 1713 and my line of Goores back to Richard, b. abt 1702 and married, I think, to Ann Billington.  These folks are from the Lydiate/Altcar/Aughton area; Barton is a place name that also crops up.
