This is my first posting..........please be patient!!!!
I am looking for the Nicholas family from Ruabon c. 1860, particularly JANE NICHOLAS b.1842, Ruabon, D/O John Nicholas, a collier. She married EDWARD JONES of Caergwrle at Hope Parich Church 25 Aug, 1860. They had 5 children; Mary b. 1862, John b.1865, David b. 1868, Margaret b.1871 and Sarah Jane b. 1872. Mary & John were born in Cergwrle, David & Margaret were born in Stoke-on-Trent, and Sarah Jane in Ashton in Makerfield. They then returned to live in Caergwrle and I believe that sometime between Sarah Jane's birth in 1872 and the 1881 census Jane died. This is my problem - I can't find her death.....can anyone help please?!
Many Thanks

Hi and welcome!
When you say you are 'looking for them' is it just Jane Jones's death you are looking for?
You seem to have them in some censuses at least.
Let us know what you already have and what exactly you are looking for (going back, going forwards, particualr missing censuses etc) and you will find a whole army of people willing to help look!

Thank you lizdb!!!!
Yes, it is Jane's death I am particularly looking for..........I have the rest of family, but she is a bit of an enigma!!
After Sarah Jane's birth, Jane simply disappears from records! I have Edward (her husband) in the 1881 census as a widower living with his mother (the boys all went back to mum even then it seems!) and John, David & Margaret are there also. I even have Sarah Jane in a nearby village listed as an adopted child - the family she is with has, so far, no direct link to either family.
So yes, it is her death I am keen to find!
Thank you for replying - you've made my day!!

Hi Spaniel
Welcome from me too :)
I've just been looking on the North Wales BMD for her death but it's needles and haystacks.
What you really need is a look up for a Caegwrle/Hope burial that might tie it down. I'll draw this to the attention of one of our members, Paul, to see if he can find it. \he has access to the Flintshire/Denbighshire records.
If you need any info on the Nicholas family in Ruabon before Jane, do ask on the Denbighshire board. I have most of the Ruabon parish records :)

Added info for anyone who might be helping with the death reg search - Hope/Caegwrle were in Flinshire but came under the Wrexham (Denbighshire) registration district.

So if all dates are spot on this would be the most likely
Jul/Aug/Sep 1877
Jane Jones age 35
Wrexham 11b 197
trouble is, as you say there are others with an age within a year either way also dying in that period.
Ap/MAy/Jun 1876 age 35
and
Jul/Aug/Sep 1879 age 39
being the nearest others.

Hi Gadget,
Yes - needles and haystacks is a great way to describe it!! I've looked there too & the burial records at Hope Church & got so excited that I may have found it - but on checking at the records office it was the wrong Jane.
I've even found her parents grave in Cefn - but she's not there either!
However - a fresh pair of eyes usually sees something new so any help would be greatly appreciated.
She's my g g grandmother & I would just like to know what happened to her.......
Many thanks again - I am so pleased to have found this site!
Kind Regards,
Spaniel
