Title: RICHARDS family seach Cornwall
Post by: study49 on Wednesday 11 August 10 09:49 BST (UK)
Hi

Can anyone help I am looking for information on Thomas John Richards cornwall. It is his fathers name that i would really like to know His mother was Elizabeth Lance but i can not find any marriage between her nd a Richards she remarried under the Richards name to George Masters then to a James Farr. Maybe she never married Richards in the first place but even trying to find the right BC for Thomas John is proving difficult as it seems to be a common name I know he was born around 1885 in Cornwall.

Look forward to hearing from anyone :)

Have you got the family in 1891?
When did Eliz. marry Masters? did she say she was widow or a spinster at that marriage?

well, his place of birth is given as Truro on the 1891 census, so you could try this one

Thomas John Richards june qtr 1885 Truro vol 5c pg 141

marriage to George Masters

Hi

Thank you for the information it has been great to look at it is a shame the  transcription of the mc does not say more.

I wonder weather thomas john's mc gives biological father or Masters as father. may have to try to find that.

Thanks again Anna

Don't think it's a shame, you're lucky to find a transcription. The transcribers are volunteers and it's not the easiest thing to do. Not all counties have the resources that Cornwall does.

Only way to find out is to buy the certificate. Although if George Masters was the father, he would have to be present at the registration to appear on the cert.

Hi

Thank you it is true I am lucky that you could find me a transcription i have been looking for a long time for something on him sorry I sounded negative it just gets frustrating.

I checked out the link you gave me for the Masters marriage It is handy when you know where to look and I found Thomas John's Marriage Cert with father named as Frederick  ( Deceased) Still no marriage between his Mum and dad maybe they never did and she just took the name and said she was a widdow when she married George masters.

Now a task to find Frederick.

Thanks again for the link.

Anna

You might try one of the latest pilot additions to the Family Search record search
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#start

At the opening page click on "Search or browse our record collection" then click on the "Europe" part of the world map", then scroll down to "England & UK" and click on "England, Cornwall Parish Registers 1538-1900"

Good luck, Les

doesn't seem to be a likely death registered in Cornwall of a Frederick Richards between 1885 & 1889

Sorry Osprey, I was referring to the possibility of finding the original entry for the George Masters=Eliz...Richards marriage in 1889.

I've since had a look and it is there, only dated 31 Dec 1889. To save you searching it is on page 172 of 255.

Cheers, Les
