Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site and wanted to say Hi!!
I'm interested in finding out as much as I can about the Marquis family, I have traced back to John Marquis born 1825in Donedore or Doneygore Antrim but unable to go back any more. John Marquis joined the Army on 22 March 1847 age 17 he married Catherine Laird 1846.
Does anyone have any information about the Marquis family or can you point me in the right direction
Thanks for reading.
Jackie :)

Hi thanks for that information.

Hi there Jackie,
I am actually related to Catherine Laird. Her brother, George is my great grandfather x 3. I have been in touch with a lady in New Zealand, who is descended from Catherine & John Marquis, so if you'd like to contact me personally, then I can give you her contact details, as I'm sure she'd love to hear from you, if you haven't already made contact by now.
Kind regards,

Hi Jackie,
The moderator removed your email addy from your msg reply to me, as is Rootschat policy, but I'm sure I still have your email addy from when I contacted you whilst in England, in 2011! I didn't even realise that it was you when I read the msg on rootschat! So, I will try and contact you again as soon as I can manage some time! Very busy at the moment though, but will try!
Meanwhile, should you wish to email me directly, then my email addy is *
Bye for now,
