Hi
Does anyone have easy access to Sasine records for the Edinburgh area please??
I am trying to find out more about 2 families, and as there is a lack of wills, I am hoping some Sasines might exist to give more info.
The two families and properties I am trying to trace are:
The estate of Drydane near Lasswade, apparently jointly owned by Alexander and Adame King in the 1600-1620's
The estate of Burnhouse south of edinburgh (near Eddington I think) which was apparently owned by a Mr Blackadder, somehow associated with a James King, chaplain of St Mungo's in Glasgow and chartered to Alexander King- who became known as 'of Burnhouse'. This occured sometime between 1580-1595.
Many thanks to anyone who can help!!

Have you checked the NAS catalogue? The NAS holds many family papers that can include charters, bonds, etc.
Some entries for King of Dryden:
Instrument of Resignation by Mr Alexander Kinge [King] of Drydane [Dryden], advocate, of 10 acres of lands of Pentland, in favour of Mr John Nicolsone [Nicholson] of Leswaid [Lasswade], commissary of Edinburgh, and Elizabeth Henrysone [Henderson], his spouse. 8 Jun 1601
Charter de me by James King of Drydane, advocate, with consent of Janet Dowglas, his spouse, to Mr. Robert Bruce, son to deceased Sir George Bruce of Carnock, knight, of annualrent of 800 merks Scots furth of lands of Nather Inzievar 14 Aug 1628
There are also some documents mentioning King and Burnhouse.
