I am trying to find information about my great grandfather Thomas Francis Barry born 1856 somewhere in County Cork. He left Ireland as a young single man, and the US census of 1900 lists his arrival date as 1879. He met and married (1881) Bridget Teresa Walsh from County Clare in Worcester Massachusetts, where he worked in a brewery. They had eight children survive infancy, and given the family's penchant for naming children after relatives (at least through my father's generation) I list them in hopes it might help to pinpoint the family: Marion, Ella, Evelyn, Francis, Rita (possibly Margareta), Arthur, Lucy, and William. Arthur was an infamous "second-story man" (house robber) in the 1920s and was featured in Life Magazine in 1956.

Unfortunately Thomas was born before the start of full civil registration (1864), so parish records will be required to give you any details of his family in Ireland. To start this search you need to establish his family religion and a more specific location than just Co. Cork - e.g. his parish, town or townland.
Barry is quite a common surname in Co. Cork so you would probably also need some more details on him to confirm any possible connections - e.g. parents names etc. Maybe some of his US records could give you some additional clues - e.g. immigration record, marriage cert ..
