Hi All,
I've been on this list for quite some time now, but this is my first post I believe!
I'm trying to find the marriage record for John TAYLOR to Mary DOWNING. I found the record on IGI and record search pilot, according to those they married on either 11th or 17th March 1832 at Madeley, there was no church name given. I don't know the first thing about tracing marriages through parish records or what the records might tell me and I was hoping someone out there could steer me in the right direction
Thanks
Susan

Hi Susan - and WELCOME to RootsChat!
This website might be helpful: www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/STS/Madeley/
Seems the parish registers are kept at Staffordshire Record Office.

Do you have access to a family search center to borrow microfilms of parish records?
Batch #C033792 has a Mary Downing chr. 6 May 1810 at Madeley, Shropshire
No batch # but a chr. for a John Taylor, 2 Apr 1809 at Madeley, Shropshire
Batch M033791 for period 1695-1837 for Madeley, Shropshire. No match for the marriage on line but the film might be worth looking at for this marriage.

Hi Susan
John (G.) Taylor and Mary Downing appear in my family tree too.
The date I have for their marriage is 17.3.1832.
