In 1881 the family was at Sussex Lunatic Asylum where Thomas was working. A lovely environment in which to bring up young children no doubt.

I think sometimes enumerators got confused. He was called Thomas Johnson Puddington.
It is brilliant to see that this census brings them to Cuckfield as I can now see how Thomas Johnson Puddington Jnr was in the right area to meet and marry Annie Florence Jenner.

just found the missing daughter Grace M Puddington in 1891 she was a visitor in Battersea.

could she be with her Fathers sister as Hannah Puddington married Charles McKay in March quarter 1873 district Chelsea
I also found Grace in 1901 with her husband Russell P Gurney and living with them is her youngest brother William J Puddington and they are in Plymouth
Grace Mary Puddington married Russell Percival M Gurney in June quarter 1898, Cuckfield
could not find Priscilla Lillian M Puddington in 1901 but she married in Sept quarter 1903 district Cuckfield to either Joseph Upton or Edgar Parks

Good job I asked who she was visiting as this is her sister and it tell me which of the two men on the BMD page she married !!! Answered quite a few questions there.

Yes - silly me Hannah was her auntie and not her sister. The difference in age should have told me. I know women in those days had babies all their reproductive life but that would be pushing it some !!!!

Spencer jenner was my hubby's grandad. His sister Annie Florence Jenner married Thomas John Puddington . The jenner family was quite large so I assume that is why three of the older ones moved in with the puddingtons.....

Hannah Puddington was my 2nd great grandmother. Tricky family to track at times but lots on my ancestry tree.
Some of the Puddingtons were witnesses in Witch Hunt trials!
