Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help me out a little. I have a death certificate for my great grandad and also a copy of the newspaper report from the inquest. I would now like to find his burial place.
The certificate shows it was registered in the sub district of Hemsworth Western. He was living in South Kirkby.
Name: Samuel Harrison
Date of death: 23 August 1927
Age: 40
Can anyone suggest a likely burial place please as I'm not familar with this area at all, many thanks

Hi
I had some relation that lived in South Kirkby and they were buried in Moorthorpe cemetery.
Unfortunately it is just outside the Wakefield council district and I was lucky first time I visited the cemetery the I was able to talk to the person in-charge and he gave me the details I wanted but I have been unable since that time to locate the registers to see if any of the other members of the family are there.
It might also been advantageous to look on the Wakefield Council website to look through the Wakefield cemetery. They have put their registers on line.
Regards
John

Your local Family History Society will have a copy of the National Burial Index which might help.

Hi, Thanks for the replies and for the NBI check Andy.
It's a possibilty that his brother who identified his body and attended the inquest took his body back to the Bolton area for burial I suppose as all his family were there and he had no connection to Yorkshire other than being there for pit work...
