This picture was taken 10 years ago before my sister got ill and needed a heart transplant. She has never been well since and is currently in hospital. Her 60th birthday is coming mid August and we are doing her a surprise party. We would love this picture 'fixed' to put her at a party or some other exciting venue so it can be displayed at the party. She wont be able to get out of her wheelchair so I know it will be a lovely surprise for her to be able to imagine herself dancing or having fun. Please keep her dress this colour as she loved it, but the background needs to go! If possible, could you put some shoes on her.
thanks
Chrissi
-
Well Here she is ready to go to the party

Hi Chrissi
I know I have used this background many times and maybe it is my lack of imagination but I do think it works sometimes ;D
I wish you and your sister all the very best and I hope you all have a good party. ;)

Oh my word it is a long time since I've seen her have this much fun! I am so enjoying watching her! she is going to be overjoyed with her adventures. Thank you all so much, and its great to see her dancing xin. I cant believe how well you have all captured her spirit and taken her places she would have loved to be. Bless you - I'm overwhelmed.
-
And one at Las Vegas... :D
Is there anyone your sister would really like to be seen with? Someone / some place famous? We could maybe get a set up. ;D
-
Awwwe thank you LoneyBones, its for sure she would have loved to go to Vagas.
As to your other offer, One place my sister has always wanted to go was to a New Years day concert at Musikverein in Vienna. She watches it on TV every year and has always dreamed of going there. She would love to see herself there.
Famous people, well mostly music is her life these days and if she were be in the company of someone famous she would probably like them to sing or perform for her! Her favourite all time singer is Nana Mouskouri ( favourite song - Song for Liberty.. just so you can capture her spirit) :) She would love to see her perform, - wonder if thats at all possible, putting Nanna Mouskouri at Musikverein with my sister there to.... ;D
-
Happy birthday to your sister :D
Irene
-
I hope you sister has a wonderful birthday.
Leonie.

These are just brilliant. I do hope your sister gets as much enjoyment from them as I have.
Please wish her Happy Birthday from me.

- FANTASTIC work RootsChatters!!!!
Les
:D
I agree. All you people have a lot of talent and imagination ;D
Lois
-
I so agree with you Les de B and mouse49. Thank you all so much for the wonderful gifts you have made for her. Each and everyone of them has a special quality that she will enjoy and treasure for the rest of her life. Who would have thought she would be doing a waltz in Vienna! and Nanna there singing to her! It's such a lovely thought. She did love to dance! All kinds and she probably did kick off her shoes to dance. :) and did that kind of dancing. Thinking on it, she would probably have liked to dance with Patrick Swayzee... (who shared her birth date but 2 years younger) she loved the dirty dancing film as much as she loved The king and I... :)
I will update you after her party as to her reaction!
Thank you all so much! xx
-
A last one from me Chrissi I promise ::)
David
-
Thank you David, don't beat yourself up over enthusiasm... believe me, her 'adventure' just got so much bigger and it is so very much appreciated! She will have the time of her life just looking at these. I'm bursting to tell her about them but it will be such a lovely surprise on the night it will be worth the wait.
Chrissi xx

Dear Kesannah
Firstly I would like to say sorry for interupting your messages but it is the only way that I can find to get to speak with you on the subject of the Reed family.
I noticed that you were researching Reed's in West Ham & it so happens that my grandfather's name was James Thomas Reed born 1888 in Bermondsey, & he lived most of his life in Plaistow-West Ham.
While I may just be clutching at straws I still hope that you might be related somewhere along the line .
If you do have any info I would be most grateful & hopefully I could exchange names of my family with you.
Once again I must apoligise but I am at the "brick wall" stage
Many thanks John Reed

Tonight's the night!!! ;D ;D ;D We have had a long week. My sister came out of hospital last Thursday but was blue lighted back in Saturday morning with with pneumonia. Her birthday was Wednesday and she was determined to be home for it having spent her birthday in hospital last year. The doctors worked very hard and she was soon on the mend again. she needed IV antibiotics and shhe was having her last lot at lunchtime on her Birthday. she came home late Wenesday afternoon. ;D We had a little party at home which she so loved.... She thinks she is going for a meal tonight. she spent yesterday totally resting (apart from the mobile hairdresser popping in and giving her a trim ;D Today is a pamper day and she will have her daughter in law doing a manicure and facials and all lovely girlie things, and then relax before going for the 'meal'
We are all bursting with excitement. The hall got decorated last night. All of the pictures have been made to A4 and are decorating the walls along with bunting and balloons and things... looks wonderful. A lovely cake is being delivered this morning. All the table covers and decorations are lilac with a splash of shocking pink!!! Will let you all know how it went and see the pics... thanks again.... this is just the best day and you all played such a big part in it...
Regards Chrissi and family.... xxxxxxxxxx

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D It was Brilliant! We had the time of our lives!! whoop whoop.
An hour before the party the hospital phoned having had the results of that mornings blood test and they wanted her to go straight in for a blood transfusion. She xplained she was going for a birthday meal and they would have to wait for her :o The hospital were very good and said that would be okay but if she started to struggle to just phone 999 and go in..
So, at 7 oclock we were all hidden in the back room of a pub where she thought she was having the meal... She was so very surprised and unbelievably happy.
for some reason I cant get the pictures to upload, but I will try again.
She so loved her pictures ;D ;D ;D ;D convinced her grandchildren she 'DID' used to date Patrick Swayzee. It was all so lovely... thanks again for making this a night to remember :D :D

wonderful Story video great
Margaret
-
Thanks Starshine - its a great contribution and very much appreciated. If there is another party it will be in a prominent position. As it is, we are making an album called The Secret Life of Lesley and her Magic Dress. The children questioned why she always wears the same dress on her adventures and we have said its a magic dress, and when she has it on she can fly all over the world. My own grand daughter asked if she can borrow it when she has grown up! We can have some fun with this for years with the children of the family. ;D ;D ;D
Cant thank you all enough for your good wishes. Les has had to stay in bed this week, she is exhausted but very very happy and in good spirits. ;)

I have a couple more I didn't post. Do you think the thread can stand them? :D

If your sister has had only half as much pleasure from the pics as we've had......... then she must be absolutely delighted ;D

She certainly has..... all of the family has, and will - its so incredible. ;D ;D ;D I grin from ear to ear each time I look in, and that's with tears streaming down my face. xxxxx

Firstly, my sincere condolences on the loss of your dear sister. May she Rest in Peace!
I have just read this thread for the first time, and have found it profoundly moving and beautiful.
What beautiful images the restorers have done, and the thought behind them is incredible.
I'm so pleased that your sister and all your family got such pleasure and had such fun with the photos, and it sounds as if the fun and games will be "business as usual" with the younger families.
Great work Rootschatters, and an amazing idea from you Chris!

I have just read this thread for the first time today, my condolences to you & your family on the loss of your sister.
What fantastic work has been done by the members, I do hope the photos made your sister smile everytime she looked at them.
-
I too have read this thread for the first time today, - and what a beautiful tribute her son has done for her on YouTube. The mix of family photos, beautiful video clips and music brought tears to my eyes (especially the Andrea Bocelli music - my mothers favourite music to relax to in the last couple of years of her life). My sincere condolences to all the family - and I think that this very special lady would have been so proud of all of you.
May I say that this whole thread really shows the whole reason for the existence of Rootschat - "Family" being the core, whether it be our own families, present, past and future - and of course our Rootschat Family. Enough said - You have made my day!!
-
Beautiful video Chris.
