Title: Glacken/Glackin
Post by: alblas on Thursday 05 August 10 09:48 BST (UK)
Hi all
I am looking for any info on  Michael Glacken/Glackin born around 1820
I found him on the 1851 Tyrone census abstracts [bit of luck there]
He was in Bowling Green Camus it lists his wife as Sarah and 3 children ,one is John age 2 who I am hoping is my GG grandfather.I am not having much luck in tracking down any other children for Michael and Sarah or even Sarah's maiden name.
Anyone else out there looking for Glackins from the Camus or Strabane area of Tyrone?
Many thanks
Anna

Hi Alablas,

I too am searching for my Glackin ancestors in Tyrone, but in my case they were living in the Coalisland area. I've looked a number of non-related Glackins and have transcribed an index of Glackin BMD's in Scotland, where my great-grandfather emigrated to and where I live, I have also started doing the same for Ireland and have a note of a Michael Glackin who died in the second quarter of 1897 aged 70, (Volume 2 Page 210) I haven't viewed the actual certificate, but with this information you should be able to find it and see if his wife's name was Sarah.

Hope this is of assistance to you and if I can be of any further help let me know.

Eddie Glackin

Hi Eddie
Thanks for that. Our paths crossed a few years ago in regards to Glackins in Glasgow.
I am still on the hunt for the original Irish ones. I will send you a PM with my email address and we can have a chat.
Cheers Anna

Hey guys
So we have Glachan ... but have hit a dead end we think the name done a naughty change when they came over to Glasgow !

Have a Neil (Glachan) 1816 Ireland
He married Agnes Brogan 1826 (Ireland)- 1824 (Dunbartonshire)

She is daughter of
Charles Brogan and Agnes Docherty
No dates both listed as Ireland

We than have a decent amount of Glachan descendants
From Old Kilpatrick, Erskine, Duntocher, Bridgeton, Cambuslang, Dumbarton, and I believe Liverpool I need to check with my aunt
