Hi,
I am having great difficultly in tracking down anything about my ggggrandparents.
Hugh CAMERON and Catherine MCMATH (daughter of John MCMATH) were married in Campbeltown on 30 August 1942. I have the extract from the Parish Register from SP.
Their daughter Margaret CAMERON (my gggrandmother) was born 1 February 1844 in Campbeltown. I have her christening record from SP.
There is another daughter Euphemia born between 1848 and 1853. Her age varies on different records. Euphemia marries William MITCHELL in Campbeltown in 1878. Euphemia dies in 1913. I have those two certificates, but they are at home so I don't have the full details at hand.
Catherine CAMERON (ms MATHIESON) dies in Campbeltown in 1884 aged 75. (I have this certificate) The informant is her son-in-law William MITCHELL. Her parents are recorded as John MATHIESON and Margaret CAMPBELL. From other research it appears that MCMATH and MATHIESON are interchangeable, so that is not a concern. Family search has submitted birth entries for Catherine MCMATH with those parents in 1910 in Campbeltown. That all fits.
Margaret marries Daniel MITCHELL in Campbeltown in 1866. From here on I have all her entries - censuses and death. Her father Hugh is listed as deceased on her marriage certificate.
All the information I have on Hugh and Catherine is listed here. They have eluded me in all censuses. I hoping someone with fresh eyes and clean slate might have some different ideas on how to find these people.
Thanks in advance,
Debbie

Have you looked at the Catherine Matheson b. 1811 in Campbeltown in the 1841 census?
I don't have a paid subscription, so can't look at the details, but I'd look at any Matheson or Mathiesons that look like potentials.

Ok, ignore my previous suggestion, that Catherine seems to be married.
But this household (address: Strath, Campbeltown) looks promising:
John Matheson 65 pauper
Margrat Matheson 45
Chatrine Matheson 26 M.L
Peter Matheson 14 Ag Lab
John Matheson 12

HI Dena,
Thanks for your help.
That 1841 census certainly looks promising. I thought I had checked them all out, but must have missed that one.
I will have to leave searching for this family on the backburner for just a little while longer. I am in the process of getting ready to go overseas for a fortnight next week. Hopefully when I return home from Hawaii I will be refreshed and able to tackle this difficult family again.

Hi Maggie,
Great to hear from you. I will admit I haven't done much on this line for a while and haven't found any more information than what was on the original message. They seem to be a mystery.
I would love to share what information I have and would love to know more about Euphemia and William and their family.
