Title: Metcalfe marriage - St Saviour-Completed Thanks
Post by: Kissimmee on Wednesday 04 August 10 20:55 BST (UK)
I have a marriage for Henry Metcalfe SQ1896 St Saviour 1d 149 to Augusta Ellen Tollman.

I have found a likely couple in Newington in 1901 with children but before I go off on the wrong track could someone please confirm that Henry's father is William John Metcalfe possibly a Carman or traveller.

Thanks for any help

Thank you very much I am sure it is the correct Henry with the father having the exact two Christian names. Maybe he was being a bit posh about his father's occupation. Henry was a traveller in 1891 and a bus conductor in 1901 can I ask you to please check out his occupation.

Thanks again

Thank you very much for taking the trouble to check that out for me.  At least I feel confident that I am following the correct Henry

Hello Kissimee
If you have a date of death for Henry and/or Augusta I would be pleased to know it. Augusta was a cousin of mine - the last trace I have of them is the 1911 census - haven't been able to find a death recorded.
Many thanks

Sorry no sighting of a death for Henry or Augusta on the BMD but they are adding all the time.
Like you I have picked them up on the 1911 but only names and ages.
I did find another birth for them in 1911 but sadly he had died by 1912.
I found a possible marriage for daughter Augusta.
My Great grandmother was Elizabeth Walker and her sister Sarah Jane married William John Metcalfe who would have been Augusta's father in law.  If you can add anything on the Metcalfe's I would love to hear from you.

P S  Noticed you are quite new to posting on RootsChat.

I would still be at the starting block without everyone's help
