Post by: jaycem on Monday 02 August 10 07:52 BST (UK)
hi
help please to find wedding cert. of mary jane shea and john riley.they had a story in hereford press saying she was 100 yrs old and had come from kenmare.this made her born 1822 and clues such as first born child puts the wedding in 1846.on the lists of marriages for 1846 i find 3 matches where each of my relatives were wed.two are in co. limerick and one in westmeath.my problem is how to tell which is right pairing.the first child was named jeremiah.born in brighton on most of census for each year but not on 1851 census. many thanks

Do you know what religion your Shea family was ?

The reason this is important is that full civil registration only started in 1864 - so if they were Catholic there will be no marriage cert, and parish records will be required.

Many parish records for Co. Kerry are available online (free) at : http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/
