I am doing some research on my Owens family from Roscommon...although I have no idea if they were from Strokestown. I had heard that a lot of the Owens families were from the Cloonfad beg area. Do you happen to have acquired any information?

My ancestor that emigrated to the US in 1842 was Michael Owens (b. 1813, m. Mary O'Connell/O'Connor). He was the son of Michael and Catherine (Gibbens) Owens. So far only sibling that I know of was his brother Dominick who followed him in 1847. Both settled in the Dansville, NY area where I am from.

Hi Emily many thanks for your reply. My Owens married a Bushelle in or around the 1820's - 30's. I've checked the church register in strokestown without success. Owens was plentiful but no connections made unfortunately. Cloonfad is very interesting because that's where my next generation resided so I will take a closer look and get back to you. Thanks for getting in touch :)
