Hello All,
I'm on FindMyPast searching for Mary E Morris born 1834, there are only 9 names and none relating to my search.
I'm almost sure I have her in 1851 age 16 servant living in Laws St Pembroke Dock Town born St Thomas HWest. I think this is her christening 9 march 1834 St Thomas HWest father Henry Morris mother Elizabeth Davies. Her marriage in 1855 Pembroke Dock gives address Pembroke St age 20 father Henry Morris Tailor or Sailor. On the marriage cert. there is a Margaret Rees by mark. Can any rootschatter suggest where she might be in1841.

Henry Morris a Mariner mrd Elizabeth Davies at Haverfordwest St Thomas 02nd July 1829. So this proves Henry's occupation on his daughters mrge cert.
The only Mary Elizabeth Morris I can find is baptised in 1834 at H'west St Thomas, so we can presume the entry you found on the IGI is correct.
I note an Elizabeth Morris shown as a Family Servant aged 30 in Hill Street H'west St Thomas 07th June 1841 so perhaps her husband was out working on the river, and down to the sea on this night of the census. Of course mrge status is not shown in'41.
As to where else the family may be in June '41 pick any village hamlet or house on the river and trib's between H'west and Pemb Dock, although I'm sure SKP will check the whole of the '41 and update you better than I.

Thank you for your info on Elizabeth Morris. You say SKP would check the whole of 1841 census, but I don't know what or who SKP is. I'm quiet new to researching family history, so forgive me if my question sounds thick.

Hi taffess
SKP is 'some kind person' ;)
I looked for this the other day without much luck (I too have Morris's in Pembrokeshire who are causing me problems ::) ) Who did Mary marry and were the census after her marriage consistent with her place of birth.

Hi there,
Mary E Morris married Daniel Morgan in Pembroke Dock 1855. I have her in 1861/71/81 and yes each census records - born in H.West. I haven't found her in 1891, so I think her death would be between that time in S.Wales, but if your Mary Morris remained in Pembs then we are looking for 2 different people. Hope that helps.

Hi
Have had another look in 1841 can't see the family at all or sisters Maria and Catherine (as per IGI baptisms) There is a Henry with wife Elizabeth in 1851 and 1841 at Lantwit bn Haverfordwest but no sign of Mary.
Thankfully I have my Mary, she left Wales for England after the 1851 census ;D

Hi Rosie,
Thanks for the lookup in 1841. I have the IGI for Mary E Morris born 1834 St Thomas HWest, but are you saying she had two sisters i.e. Maria and Catherine? Can you tell me what year they were born?
You have found a Henry and Elizabeth Morris in1851 living in Llantwit. Is that in Glam?
I have Mary in 1851 servant living in Laws St Pembroke age 16 born St. Thomas HWest. I'm sure that's my girl, but I haven't found any sisters or brothers. I'm now wondering if her parents have died before 1841, if so would she be in the workhouse?

Hi
It is highly likely that she had at least two sisters and a brother. If you go into the IGI
http://www.familysearch.org/eng/search/igi/search_IGI.asp?indid=&spouse_id=&color=
in the search box leave first name blank enter Morris as second name
put Henry in first name of father and elizabeth in first name of mother
in batch no put C081091
select British Isles as region (sorry missed that bit)
enter
This brings up possible siblings, obviously only the original register will give any more detail. They could have course died young....
The Henry and Elizabeth that I found in Lantwit (yes it's Glam) had two children, William bn c 1836 and Henry bn 1841. Henry is a Lock keeper on both census, bn Haverfordwest as per 1851.
I think the 1851 Mary is probably yours. I also think you have the right christening as Mary later has a daughter Catherine Maria.

F.Y.I.
Catherine Anne Morris baptised 1836 H'west St Thomas
Maria Morris baptised 1831 H'west St Thomas
I don't know what the IGI says.
By my reckoning there are least another 5 children that are probably to Henry.

I'm now wondering if her parents have died before 1841,
WHY ??
There is absolutely no reason why he is not out on the water and she is employed in service.
-
A big thank you for all your help in researching Mary E Morris. I now have names for her sisters and 1 brother. I hope I can now add to Mary's side of the family on my chart.

Had a quick look at the St Issells parish registers today at the R.O. for the period 1858 to 1862.
I note there are no childred baptised to Thomas & Margaret Morris, however I did note that there are Morris children baptised to only 2 sets of Morris parents during this period they are ; Thomas & Mary Morris plus Lewis & Margaret Morris !!
Are you thinking what I'm thinking ?? Is there an error somewhere along the line in the official recordings? Or did they fly the village the day after mrge, if so I can only think of one reason.

Hi
I think you have replied on the wrong post ;) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=471525.msg3316406#msg3316406 but very easy to get muddled when we are both doing Pembrokeshire Morris's. I did ask the Mods to move it but ....
Thank you for this information, much appreciated. I'll transfer this on to my post so it makes more sense and answer you there.
