I've just received in the post today a copy of my late fathers service records in RAF durring WW2. He didn't talk much about the war, all i know is he was in RADAR.
I can decipher most of the records but am having trouble with some of the units were he was posted to:-
e.g it refers to 3127.S.E or 6320.S.E
Does anyone know what this refers to or where i could find out
many thanks

They are Servicing Echelons.
Basically mobile columns of RAF ground crew who were expected to hold and defend forward airfields taken during advances and carryout turnround servicing for any aircraft that landed.
In a few cases they also carried out the assault to liberate/capture the airfield.
For adim purposes they were attached to a squadron
3127 to No.127 Sqn
6320 to No.320 Sqn
but this was mainly for pay and training rather than operational links.

Hi,
7RS is No.7 Radio School in London
http://www.bbc.co.uk/ww2peopleswar/stories/05/a2160505.shtml
The ORB is AIR29/725
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalogue/browser.asp?CATLN=3&CATID=479&POSCATLN=7&POSCATID=2000*-1892805&j=1
1508 I suspect is No.1508 Blind Approach Training Flight

This information is already starting to make sense of what was looking a bit like a jigsaw puzzle of information. I may well have more questions as i go through his records
