Title: Lempriere
Post by: guykguard on Monday 26 July 10 09:20 BST (UK)
My g great-grandfather, Philip Raoul Lempriere, Seigneur de Rozel, died on or about 4 November 1859 but I don't know where, or in what circumstances.
I would be most grateful for any information about where he died, where he is buried, and the circumstances of his death.

I see the Jersey Archive has a copy of his will.

I'm sure it would have been reported in the newspapers but it would be in French.

@Stewart
Many thanks for your helpful reply. I've chased the Jersey Archives for the Will but drew a blank. May be a dumb question -- I apologize -- but where would I find the Will, please?
Are Jersey papers (being) digitised? If so, where? If not, where are the originals, please? (I'm bilingual, E&F)
May I infer that you would eventually be available to get what I'm looking for?

Hi

The Archive definately have the will.

Go to http://jerseyheritagetrust.jeron.je/archive.html

Click on Name and then enter Lempriere, Ph

Click on Lempriere, Philip Raoul

Half way down the page is a reference to the will.

You cannot see the will but you can order a copy, or, I can have a look next week and report back.

... and your right, I can find out the information you require.

OK, so what would you try to provide? A copy of the Will would be good, as would a death certificate. And a newspaper report would be welcome.
IMO, he may have died in France. These Lemprieres were regular visitors to Dinard, where Millais used to join them.
