Title: Josef FISCHER
Post by: jennirosa on Monday 26 July 10 01:21 BST (UK)
I am trying to find a Josef (Joseph) Fischer (Fischer)

Arrived in Sydney 1914 and married in 1915. Had a son in Sydney 1916 and scarpered off somewhere? His wife Anna/Rose lived the rest of her life with another man and was only married the once to Fischer.

According to passenger list on SS Geelong, he was an Engineer. Could he have ended up in South Australia? Can  anyone search a marriage or a death for a Josef Fischer. Parents were Josef Fischer and Magdelina Schatz. Josef jnr was born around 1890 in Arbon, Switzerland.

cheers again

Hi Jennirosa,
I've checked for a marriage under various spellings up until 1937 in Sth Australia but found nothing.

Regards,
Sashar

Hi Jennirosa -..in case it helps .......the 'National Library of Aus.' has an 'Ask a Librarian' service (on-line)- they will help trace him from their records including electoral rolls (past & present) and newspaper death notices etc. (each of our State Libraries offer same service).    Valerie (WAus)
