Please can you deal with this one - (badly worded) - please WOULD you deal with this one - I know you can! The evidence is there on this board!
I love this board!! ;) Taken about 1917

Sorry - not able to help with restoration, but what a "bevy of Beauties" !! Magic photo!
-
Thanks muchly Alan - they don't look 'arf bad do they! And they look so much better with a little clean up!
I'd love to know how the photo was achieved - you can see the mother's arm holding up the youngest child - I wonder what they were sitting on - or was she lying down? - but it doesn't look like it! :-\
Maggbill - do I recognise that McNab name from St Michael's in Melbourne??
Wiggy :)

Hi Wiggy,
Sorry don't connect with "St. Michaels" Melbourne... (?? What is St. Michaels?). Connections in Adelaide, Glasgow Scotland.
-
There was a Francis McNab who was the minister in the main Congregational Church in Melbourne for many years - but just looking at the dates, I think they don't compute - could be his father maybe. Sorry should have looked harder - but very well known name in Melbourne.
-
Yes, think i have heard of Francis McNab Minister Melbourne - but mine were originally Irish - to Scotland - Glasgow, and long history of being Catholics.

Hi Wiggy
A quick clean - just going out for the day :)

Hi Wiggy
I don't often use the word 'cute' but I think it applies here :D I hope they all grew up healthy and happy.
If you look at the left of the picture there seems to be an edge, so there is probably some sort of dropped area behind where they are sitting. 'Mother' certainly looks to be standing.
The restores are great too. One day I will learn how to use Photoshop

... I agree with you Linda that they seem to be on quite a high wall, the roofline of the house next door is only just showing over the fence.
... Great pic Wiggy, my mum was the middle girl of 5 in the same era and we have no family pics like this at all sadly but it makes me think of them ... 5 girls in 7 years ...

I think they're sitting on some sort of upholstered bench, like a long piano stool. Can you see the leg at the right hand side?
-
Some piano stool :D, but I take your point

A quick one from me

What a lovely photo, Wiggy!
I don't know about the piano stool or upholstered bench.
They look just like five stairsteps to me! ;) :D ;D

...and little'un has learned to sit up all by herself :D
Nice one Roy

Great work folks - she's so clever that little one - what balance!
It is interesting because either that fence behind them is low or the photographer was looking slightly up - to me, what they are sitting on looks quite high. I have puzzled over this photo for years and still come to no definite conclusion. I can't see the 'leg' of a piano stool - just the edge of some box, or step or wall or . . . - but I have been known to be wrong - orfen!!
Linda, they did grow up to be happy and healthy - and as round as their baby photos at the other end of their lives! ;) A piano stool for a piece for 'six hands' (adult I mean)! ;D
