I am trying to figure out where Adam was born. I think he was born in Down, Ireland but then I have resources that state Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was married to Jane Eliza Coburn in Banbridge, Garvaghy, Down, Ireland on 17 Aug 1857. I have that Adam died in Tullylish, Northern Ireland.
I also am trying to figure out if he did indeed have a child named George Ferguson born in Down, Ireland around 1864. Adam also had other children that I am trying to confirm.... Robert b. 1861 Ireland and d. 1899 Derry, NH, USA - James b. 1863 Ireland and d. 1924 Tulllylish, Ireland - and several daughters, Sarah, Jane, Annie, Louisa - some of whom died early on.
George Ferguson would have married Annie Louise Buzzell from NH, USA. I am looking for the exact boat he immigrated to the US on and who he may have come over with, possibly Robert, seeings how Robert died in NH as well.
Thank you for your help way ahead of time.

Hi,
A parent search on the IGI does give a George Ferguson born to this couple in Waringstown, Co. Down on 6 Apr 1864. It also lists the daughters you mentioned.
Regards
EDIT If you google ros davies and look for her genealogical site for Co Down and go to SURNAMES you will find further information on Adam and his family.

Someone just gave me a possible naturalization record that states 27 Oct 1893 - and I have a record of this on Ancestry on my Pettengill_02_03 family tree. It shows a George Ferguson went to Springfield MA, but I also have on the same record one who went to Haverhill, MA (which should be this George) but that record states he was born in 1853 which is can't be. I am not sure, because he lived with Annie Buzzell in NH.
But I have a ancestry.com 1910 Census record of George stating he immigrated in 1883. So I am not positive. But I would have to say this may be correct in 1883, because he was married to Annie Louise Buzzell in 1890. He couldn't have married her in 1893 unless they got married over in Ireland, which I suppose is possible.....I don't have their actual marriage location down pat.
Are you related?
Thanks. Hope this helps.

I cannot find any Adam Ferguson born between 1820 and 1851 in Lanarkshire.
Only one Adam Ferguson born in 1852 to Adam Ferguson and Elizabeth Campbell

Thank you for checking!

Does anybody have an explanation for the first name difference reference Adam Ferguson's wife. Was she called Sarah Jane Coburn (or Colburn) or was she called Elizabeth Jane, as she appears to be called in later records.
-
I was told that Jane Eliza Coburn is her real name (eliza short for elizabeth) used in docs 1901, 1911 census. Sarah Jane Coburn was what was on the marriage certificate. But Jane Eliza is her name.
Hope this helps. I have this line down pat now, ask and you shall receive.

It is just that Elizabeth Jane, after the death of her husband, was living in the townland of Clare in Tullylish parish in 1911. More or less at the same place where other Fergusons, plus related families, were living in 1901. And I am related to those same families. Perhaps there is a link between them.
And yes, I am asking.

Do you have access to Ancestry.com - if so check out my family tree
Pettengill_02_03 and you'll see all of the info there.
Adam and Jane Eliza's grave in Tullylish Presbyterian Church included the son James, and daughters Louise and Jane Eliza.
1901 Census: Adam is found at 16 Magherina, Warringstown which he signed stating he was born in County Down.
There are pics of the gravesite on ancestry and the rest of the tree with all I think 10-12 children of Adam and Jane's. Hope this helps.
