Title: Electoral roll lookup
Post by: bash on Tuesday 16 September 08 18:05 BST (UK)
Hi there

Is there any way some kind soul could check who was living at a certain address on the VOTERS LIST for 1960-1966?

If this is possible, the address is: Upper Mountpleasant Ave, and the names are
EDWARD SMYTH and EMMA SMYTH.

Thank you

Bash

I didn't find them in Mountpleasant ave, but both at 29 Dartmouth road in early 1960s
.. I was in a bit of a rush so didn't look for Smith and didn't note the exact yrs ...

Hi Eadaoin

Thats them!   :D

MANY MANY MANY THANKS.

I know EDWARD died in the 60's and was hoping to narrow down the year he died so I can send for the death certificate, which I HOPE will give his age or date of birth, (on his marriage certificate it just states 'full age').

I hope its not too cheeky to ask,but if you could possibly check for the last year he was on the electoral list that would be a great help.

Thanks again

Bash

Electoral Rolls . online in Gilbert library - go up to 1963/4.

Emma and Edward Joseph Smyth are on the Roll in 29 Dartmouth Rd from 1939/40 to 1963/4 -
he's Edward, then Edward J, then Edward Joseph.

Thoms Directory shows    29 Dartmouth Rd
1963 E J Smyth
1964 .. ..?? not in library
1965 Mrs Emma Smyth

both Thoms and the Electoral Roll are prepared some months in advance ...
he could have died any time between late 1962 and late 1964 .. or a bit on either side??
or maybe he moved to a nursing home ????

Hi Eadaoin

Thanks very much for the look-up, I'm REALLY grateful.

At last I'll be able to find out more about Edward.

As I live in England, a trip to the nearest Mormon centre is the only way of searching the IRISH BMD's, so your help was much appreciated.

Bash.

Apologies for jumping in unannounced but i am intrigued by your comment regarding the use of LDS resources to check Irish BMD's - is it all BMDs and where can they be located? I now live in Derbyshire and enhanced access would be great.

Hi Eadaoin
Would you be able to look up those registers for the Mack surname? I have the 1939/40 listing and it confirmed most address I knew but anything prior or after this would be great. If you can that is?
Thanks a mill.
Mack

hi  Mack

the online registers only start at 1937 - I can look next time I go to town (which mightn't be for a couple of weeks). would you like to PM me with the addresses you have?

they have earlier registers, but they're books, and fiddley to trawl through without an address (I've done it once or twice for some of my own family!!) -
I might get to look at one or two of the books, but no promises on that one.

Hello. Are there any electoral rolls for 1911 onwards? I have an O'Brien family living at 7 Josephine Avenue, Dublin, I am particularly interested in Henry O'Brien, born 1897 as he is a first cousin once removed. I can only find him in the 1911 census
I'm grateful for any help and sorry to interrupt!

Thoms Street Directory 1922 and 1937 show Daniel O'Brien in no 15 Josephine Ave.
He's gone by 1941.

I've not been in the National Archive recently, but some years ago I looked at Voters lists from 1928 -32. From scribbles I made at the time, these are the earliest city ones, though there are earlier ones for the county. At the time these books had to be ordered a day in advance, and were a pain to search through!
The Gilbert library has a searchable database from 1937-64 with gaps.
