Do you actually have the Death Certs from NZ of James and Charlotte?
NZ Certs are incredibly informative. In fact I just got a 1888 one this week.
No ones Trees has any actual Refs to where they got their info from.
If the info on Parents came from D/Certs then I would not be so concerned.
What makes me suspicious is there is a Charlotte Trim born c 1810, Donhead St Mary, Wilts who is unmarried in all census up til 1881.
Birth/Christenings;
REUBEN, 12 May 1832/21 October 1832
ALFRED, 22 December 1833/26 January 1834
Bird Bush Independant, Donhead St Mary, Wiltshire
Parents JAMES and CHARLOTTE
Cant find any other Christenings for Elijah and Ryan.

A family member who has spent years doing research trying to find the parents of James and Charlotte has said the certificates she has, have nothing on them that suggests were they came from or can help. Seems all very odd. They had 4 boys in England, then moved to NZ and had more children. Why is it so hard finding this couple? There are no details for them in Wiltshire which suggests they were both born there and there are plenty of other Shorts which suggest that the Short family did live in and around Wiltshire. There is also a marrage and births of some children recorded there. There are also no records of them having been born in Lincolnshire were the family are sure they must have come from. Just don't know were to go next. Does their marrage details list anything that can help, do you have access?

Suz on the Lincolshire forum say the family were in Somerset on the 1841 Cenus with 3 of the 4 children. Might be possible they were born in Somerset, moved to Wiltshire were they married had 3 kids then moved back before going to New Zealand. It's all a bit of a long shot!

Shows this family gets around. How far is Somerset from Wiltshire? Is it the children not born in Somerset or the parents as well?

There is a baptism for a James Short abt correct time - in Lincolnshire -father Edward
This seems to be the james Short on the trees who is married to Charlotte Trim
but both trees do not have sources - so it seems to me to be nothing more than a guess
I think you need some certificateas to get any further - if the family member who has been researching states there is nothing on the certificate then how has he/she come to the conclusion the family were from Lincs??? Could you find out exactly what certificates the family member has???

Hi just traced Charlotte Trim's parents they were Sarah Moxam and John Trim, her grandparents on Johns side were John Trim and Eleanor Fowler from Donhead Wiltshire. Can I have an official source such as a parish lookup for these people. Also if possible this could link to James Short's parents. Turns out the family moved from one town to another so it's still very likely that the Shorts were from Lincolnshire or Wiltshire. There also might be of Trim Short marrages.

Hi think I have found James Short born/baptised Donhead St Andrew to Thomas and Hannah in 1790. Can anyone help me with the date of baptism? Thanks heaps

I think the Elizabeth who married James Short may have been Elizabeth Williams Fricker married at Donhead St Mary Wiltshire 1812. A few months earlier she married William Fricker probably a cousin or relation of some sort. I can't find a baptism for her in Donhead St Mary or St Andrew. Any help would be appreciated, I believe she was probably born around 1786 going by the census's.
