Hi,
Does anyone know how I could find out about a nurse at the Royal Marines Infirmary in Deal, Kent just before and maybe during WWI? Her name was Mabel Ada Barr (Busby before Jun 1909). She maried a Royal Marine and I wonder if they met in the infirmary. I'm assuming a female nurse would not have a military record?
I have these two pics putting her there as a nurse.

It might be worth getting in touch with the East Kent Mercury. The telephone is on the internet but if needed can send one of the reporter's details...
With best wishes

Hi ,I have only just picked up on your thread ,you may by now have found the answers you required?
The nurses uniforms in the photograph look the same as the modern QARANC'S of today ,Red shoulder Capes and trim over Grey Dresses [I think the naval ones are navy blue ]and White Headdress and White Aprons.
The QUEEN ALEXANDRAS ROYAL ARMY NURSING CORPS is active and has its own website and museum, you may very well receive help in that direction .
