Title: Plate Drawer
Post by: Dave61 on Saturday 17 July 10 13:28 BST (UK)
I have a relative whose occupation was listed as a Plate Drawer.c late 1800's
Could it be something to do with making boilers or even the shipping trade.
I have done a search and only found sites that suggest I get a kitchen renovation including new drawers. :(

Hi Dave,
Welcome to RootsChat.
Is this occupation in the census? If so which one and what is his name?

There are four Plate Drawers in the 1881 Census:
Brass Plate Drawer
Plate Drawer (Iron)
Drawer in Tin Plate Works x 2

G'day Stan, thanks for the welcome.
I am away from home a the moment and haven't got all my notes with me, but his name was Daniel McLean and he lived in Glasgow until c 1910.
He did send some time at sea, but occupation unknown at that time.
