Title: 1851 census address supplied
Post by: flame on Thursday 31 March 05 17:03 BST (UK)
HI sorry I'm new to this. I have an address 26 Walter Street south Lambeth (Wandsworth) Looking for Mundy Wright (Father)Frederick Wright (Son) I want to know who was Mundy's wife and Fredericks 1st wife. He married Martha Morey in 1871. Hope I've done this right.

Hi

Looked on the 1851 Census and unfortunately, Walter Street only mentioned up to no 24.
Do you have any year and place of birth for Mundy and Frederick?   :)

Hey Reyz
Thanks for your reply. Unfortuanatly haven't Mundys date of birth or Fredericks. But do know that Frederick had a son to his second wife Martha. Frederick William born on 13th August 1874. The birth certificate is signed by Munday so am presuming they lived at his house. Had hoped to get Freds 1st wife n Mundays wifes name. Hope you can help but don't worry if not.
Thanks again

Hi Flame

Mundy is not on the 1851 Index yet but it is updated from time to time.  Some of the Local Family History Societies have indexes for Census.

Have you found them on the 1861 Census.  It is  on-line now www.1837online.com/
It is free to search and if you find them it will give an address.  Then you could request  a 1861 address look-up, and could check the address in 1851 if it is in London.

Hope thats clear  :)
Good luck

Hey Reyz
Thanks for help. I tried the free trial on census but needed a plug in which wouldn't load up. I will try again in a few days.
Cheers

Hi again

I looked on the 1861 on-line, I could not find a Mundy Wright, but someone else might. Perhaps he did not live in the areas covered though?

Also looked on free BDM on www.rootsweb.com/ only one :

Deaths March  1880    Wright Mundy aged 83  - registered in  Belper  7b 358

It might be worth requesting a 1871 look-up for Mundy?

Hi Reyz
Thanks for reply. I think that that may be him because I do have a business card that says on the back that he died February 17th 1880. I'll try asking for a 1871 look up for him. What did you mean when you said in brackets but thats me? As you have no doubt gathered by now I am still stumbling about asking about this and that. I need to get all my facts in order and decide who I want to concentrate on. But I can't It's just so exiting and I just can't wait!(But thats ME)

Hi Flame
Sounds like him then, good.

[but thats me]  =  Simply meant that I could not find him but someone else might.

I can still remember what it was like when I started this hobby, stumbling about etc as you said.  Still the same 4 years on and the excitement does not wear off.

Hi Reyz
Hope I didn't offend asking about brackets. Don,t know if my eyes are deceiving me (I have just been out on the town) but your last message doesn't have brackets now.
I'm glad the exitement doesn't wear off. It's nice that there is something to still get exited about.
Have had another reply also 2nite from Kennyb but no reply facility. Thanks to both

Hi Reyz
Hope you had a good night. I was going to order the death certificate online but am confused as to which one I want. I'm presuming that a full one has more information on it but there are two different sorts. A full certificate, then a full certificate with GRO ref supplied. Do you know what the difference is?

Hi
Sure someone will correct me with this reply if I am wrong   :)

The GRO index ref is needed if you apply to the main office in Southport.  There is a link to it on this Site.   You have to pay them more if no index ref.

Personally I would apply to' Belper Derbyshire Register Office' for the Certificate as it may be cheaper and 'should' arrive quicker.  Also you won't need the GRO ref just names, event, year etc.
If you go on www.genuki.org.uk/ there is a list of register offices on there.. might even have some other information that could help.

I have only sent for full certificates myself so can't help with that but you need all the help you can with this hobby   :) so would suggest the full one..

Tip :  A death certificate I obtained when I started searching appeared to be no help at all. Thought it was a waste of time and money!! However a few years later and finding more information it has turned out to be a real help.  Not that you are going to take that long of course  :) they did not have all these great genealogy sites when I started.

best wishes
Reyz

Thanks Reyz
I'll do it your way and apply to the Register Office. I would actually rather do it this way, I still find it scary putting in credit card details.
I won't get my hopes up that way I won't be disapointed.
Cheers

Hello

I'm doing a bit of housekeeping and wondering if you are still looking for this information?  If so has any further information come to light in the meantime?

As this is an old request, if we don't hear from you in a while, I'll move it to the Completed section.

Regards
Biker  :)

Hi Biker,

I'm still looking for the address and who else may have lived there. Have found out where Mundy ended up before he died but would still like to know who was Fredericks 1st wife. Sorry have been offline for a while.
Thanks Flame
