Can anyone tell me how one searches the BK database? Supposedly there is someone in there who may be my missing link, so I downloaded it but I don't see where you search.

From the website www.bkwin.org/index.html
Brother's Keeper is a Windows genealogy shareware program that will help you input and organize your family history information
which implies that you have to put the data in yourself.

Where did you get this from? And where did you download the BK dtabase from?

I got the impression you create your family tree and it puts it online in a searchable database. Someone told me they'd "searched" it and found this guy
Do you search in Brothers Keepers. The nearest I can find is 22243 John
Moffat born 1785. Brecks Sandness in 1802, then Setter, Died ? Setter
Walls.
Father James Moffat. Mother Lilias Jamieson

Hi Arwald
I've just downloaded it and I can't find any mention of an online database.
The only suggestions I can make are
1 contact the person who gave you the information and ask how he got it
or
2 contact the owner of Brothers Keeper (see Home Page) and ask him
Best I can do I'm afraid :'(

As already indicated, Brother's Keeper is a family history programm for your own data storage. I don't think it puts it online - but there again I use an older version than the current one.
I agree with Linda in that I think you should ask the person who gave you the information for the URL for this searchable database.

Yep, turns out she had entered him into her tree herself, but somehow forgot and subsequently "found" him.

Oh well - we all have days like that :D
