Title: Trying to locate Robert Robinson Wife Faith Knox early 1800 Parish Of Templecarn
Post by: RobinsonC on Thursday 15 July 10 21:42 BST (UK)
Ok, my Dad has been looking for this guy for 5+ years now and I have now started helping. So my father and I are exploring all means necessary () to keep our generational information going.

Robert Robinson had children by the names of :

James Robinson (1844-1917) -- Have found conflicting report. Baptismal in 1842 in St. Marys Chuch, Ardess Co. Fermanagh

Mary Robinson(?)
Jane Robinson(1829-1903)
Ann Robinson(1840-1921)

Farmer in Fermanagh County
We think his middle name was Archibald but not sure.

Married Faith Knox
Immigrated in 1846 from Fermanagh County Ireland to Kincardin Ontario and after that he fell off the face of the earth...

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My father has been to Ireland trying to find things but ran out of time and was unsuccessful.

Your post on the CANADA board says
Have little info on Robert other than "he came with his family to Kincardin and went back to Fermanagh County to reclaim what was left of his holdings"--but have no proof to validate this story.

Archie Robinson listed on the Geoff Pinkerton's family tree page
http://www.oocities.com/heartland/prairie/6840/idxr.htm

You could try the Central Library Letterkenny, Oliver Plunkett Road, Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland. they have some document of passenger list.  Your relatives must have gone to Canada in the famine years of ireland.

I see James Robinson was born in 1844-1917 and the other chidren would have been born in Fermanagh before they moved to Ontario.  Have you seen or got copies of the birth certificates, it should tell you the name of the Townland in Fermanagh they came from.

Hi,
It is unfortunate, but there will be no birth certificates as civil registration of births did not start in Ireland until 1864. Before this you will have to search church records where these exist.

Regards

Hello all, thanks for all the input.

Unfortunately I have not made any headway on the subject. Ultimatley, I need to find information on the early years of James so I can advance further. I know that James was born Wesleyan Methodist in 1844 supposedly in Ireland, Fermanagh county. Exact whereabouts... not sure.

Trying to find baptismal records or any type of birthing information seems to be next to imposible. My father has found early pictures of relatives but with no information from an old family box `o papers.

It would even be nice to find relatives along the same line so we can compare notes.

Looks like I might have found James!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   From what I can see is he was born in 1842 Ardess, Fermanagh on Jan 23. Residence Mullinroddy (Mullanrody?) Recorded in St. Mary's Church Ardess, by George Armstrong. Now to find his Father Robert...

I see a Faith Knox b.1803 Mar. 6. With parents Andrew and Mary in Ardess as well. Where did Robert come from???

Ok, here is the update. Found transcription from George Armstrong, stating that Robert Robinson and Faith Knox were married 9/11/1826. Robert was from Parish of Templcarne and Faith was from the Pparish of Magheraculmoney. That is the only record I have of the pair.

James... our family bible has him born in 1844 and I have recently found a record of baptismal in 1842 so who do I believe... What I would like to know is if there is anybody out there that would know the general area where people lived to attend this parish. Also what records there are for that time period. Finally breaking a long drought feels good, but it just brings me to the next step.
