Title: Can someone look up the Consular birth registers please
Post by: Strange Flowers on Monday 12 July 10 20:47 BST (UK)
Hi,
I'm trying to find out where my Gt Gt Grandmother was born in France and have been told to have a look in the Consular birth registers but i don't have access so was hoping someone will have access to them and be able to look for me to see if she's there.

The only info i have on her is her marriage cert and the 1881 census(looked for others and can't find them)

She was married in 1872 to William Nye(mariner) in Durham aged 18. Her father was called David Faux(an Engine Driver)

On the 1881 census, she is living in Durham with 3 of her children. Her husband isn't there, he's on a boat. She is down as a  'Sailor's Wife' and it says she was born in France (british Subject)

Hope someone can help and thanks in advance.

If she was born in France but married a British subject then her nationality would have automatically become British so there would have been no Consular birth record.
If her parents were British and did register her birth at the local embassy/consulate it might have been done a while after she was born.

Added- jorose also explained this on one of your other threads-

Thanks for replying and explaining how it works.

If there is no evidence of exactly where she was born in France, do you have any tips on how i go about finding this out as i'm at a complete loss.
