Title: Barrow in Furness in 1871 census
Post by: glen_roger on Saturday 10 July 10 01:53 BST (UK)
Hello,
I'm trying to find out who lived at 36 Cavendish Street in 1871.  Using the Ancentry.com website's census browse feature I am able to enter the county of Lancashire and find Barrow in Furness in the next drop down menu in 1881.  However,  in 1871 the town is not listed as a civil parish under the Lancashire dropdown menu.

Help???

Thanks.
Glen

Sorry, Roger, that I sent you info for the wrong address!  I think I was already half asleep when I sent my reply!

I appreciate your responses.  Some German pork butchers (Roger, Diez) lived there in 1878... and I was hoping that they might have been there in 1871.  There was a German pork butcher (Ramhold Thomalla) in 1881 but, alas, No Diez or Roger.

I gather that the civil parish in 1871 is not Barrow but Ulverton?

Thanks again.

my ancestors, wittmann, pork butchers in Hull in 1881, had a child in 1875 in Barrow.   maybe they went there first?   do you think this is a possibility?
