Title: Where's Willie?
Post by: vivwill on Wednesday 07 July 10 02:53 BST (UK)
I would appreciate help in finding records of great uncle William Henry Willis.

William was born 22nd October 1889 to Thomas Henry and Emma Martha R Willis.   I have obtained his birth certificate (8b 542) and he is recorded on 1901 and 1911 Census records but I have been unable to find any other record of him.
I purchased a marriage cert (8e 1296) to Angela Seed but it's not him as occupation and fathers name are not correct.

I would be grateful of any help in finding a marriage or death record.

His occupation as a young man was medical attendant at Rainhill Mental Hospital - he looks to be about 25-30ish in the photo.

Look forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks
Vivwill

'morning Dotty,  yes, I have tried Army (he is in an Army uniform in the photo) and I have tried passenger lists.   I don't subscribe to any sites so I dont get far with searches such as Ancestry etc.

Thanks,  Vivwill

'morning Dotty,

On the 1901 Census he was living at home, 176 Wavertree Rd, West Derby with his family - he was aged 11.

On the 1911 Census - looking back on my notes I thought I had found him in this census under the name of William Thomas Willis, however recent searches have found that there was an error in the records in that two children were recorded to the same parents - one William Henry the other William Thomas.    The end result was that the child born to our family was William Henry so I have not yet found him in the 1911 Census.

We have photos of him at Rainhill alongside his brother who also worked there and we have photos of them in army uniform - names on the back fortunately.

Many thanks,   Viv
