Hi,
I would be very grateful for some help regarding the above address. My great grandmother was living at this addres in 1881 with her grandparents. I have recently been given help locating her mother and a very likely match has been found. Surprisingly they have both come up on the census as living at 4 Reynolds cottages Plumstead but they are not on the same census page. Who I think is my great great grandmother was now Sarah Wilson. On the census page they are in between ' the lodge to the Manor house ' and 4 Barrys buildings. Is it likely that the cottage had some sort of outbuilding that was accessed from another road where they may have lived ? Any help most appreciated.

The Wilson family are at RG11/ 755 folio 89 page 12
Also at 4 Reynolds Cottages are the Leggatt's (head Thos)
Rg11/ 755 folio 87 page 8
Odd hey?

Very odd ??? A back entrance to the same house would seem likely explanation. Perhaps there is an old street map of Plumstead which might help?

GrandDau Sarah Leggett - 4, Reynolds Cottages: Schedule #38; Dist 16 of Plumstead East.
Sarah Wilson - wife of George - also 4, Reynolds Cotts, Dist 16 etc, but a much higher Schedule #
No clues from the Enumerators Page describing the District.
However the Grandparents surname is close to that of this Sarah possibly marrying a George Wilson.
Marriages Mar 1875
GIBLING Elizabeth Woolwich 1d 1056
LECKETT Sarah Woolwich 1d 1056
MUNNS John Woolwich 1d 1056
WILSON George Woolwich 1d 1056
Need to find the Leggetts in earlier census with hopefully a daughter Sarah born c1854, Bexley
Sadly, cant find them in the key 1861 census. No Sarah with them in 1871 ... possibly her in Service in Woolwich - RG10; Piece: 783; Folio: 19; Page: 32
sorry thisnt addressing your 'geography' question - just got interested in how/why the Leggetts and Sarah were related.

The Greenwich Heritage Centre (http://www.greenwichheritage.org/) have lots of old maps, and may be able to find the precise location for you. Try dropping them an email - they're very helpful.

Thank you all for your help. I have send an email as suggested and will let you know the outcome. Thanks again.

Hi Loanne
I see that this is an old thread and that you've not visited Roots Chat for a few years, however Sarah and George Wilson were my 2nd GG parents too. Please do get in touch if you'd like to share information.
